You are not looking for a house.
That is the thing that would be hardest to explain to anybody, and it is the reason you have never mentioned this to a single person, including the friend you tell almost everything.
If you were looking for a house you would have filters on. You would have a maximum, and an area, and a number of bedrooms, and you would look at the ones that fit.
You do not have filters on.
You start at the top and you go down, and by about the fourth page you are well past anything that could ever be yours, and that is where you slow down. That is the part you spend the longest on. Rooms with light coming into them, gardens, a kitchen with a window over the sink.
And then you put the phone down and lie in the dark and something in you is quieter, and it is not a good quiet.
It is the quiet of a thing that has been confirmed.
Because what happens on the fourth page every night is not looking. It is a verdict being read out, and you have been attending the reading, voluntarily, at midnight, most nights, for about two years.

Attending your own sentencing
Let me describe the mechanism plainly, because it is doing something specific and it is not idle browsing.
There is a sentence you already believe about yourself. It is older than the app and older than the housing market, and it says something about being behind, or having got things wrong, or not having become the person that was expected.
A belief like that wants confirming. That is what beliefs do. And the listings are the cheapest, most available, most reliable confirmation machine ever built, because there is always a house better than yours, in infinite supply, at midnight, for free.
You have been feeding a sentence rather than looking at houses, and a page of photographs has never once been able to say one true thing about you. The Holy Spirit is the one who is in the room while the light of a screen is on your face, and it is written in Psalm 139 that thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
And notice the timing, because the timing is not accidental.
Midnight. After the day is done, when nothing can be acted on and there is nobody to interrupt and every defense you have is at its lowest. That is not when a person shops for a house. That is when a person does the thing they would not do at eleven in the morning with somebody in the room.
You have been doing this at the hour when nothing can be answered back, and a thing that only happens in the dark has never once been a thing that was going to help you. Psalm 139 says He compasseth the lying down as well as the path, and the Spirit of God is the one who is present at the hour you had assumed was unobserved.
Thou art acquainted with all my ways
Here is the verse, and the word acquainted is doing a great deal.
Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. (Psalm 139:3, King James Version)
My path and my lying down.
Two halves of a life. The path is the visible part, the going out, the work, the conversations. The lying down is the other half: the bed, the night, the hours nobody sees.
And the verse says He compasses both. Not only the part that gets reported.
You are known in the half of your life nobody has been told about, and a habit kept entirely in the dark has never once been a secret from God. The Holy Spirit is the one who included the second half deliberately, and the written word puts the path and the lying down in the same sentence.
Now, that could be a threatening sentence, and it is not one. Look at the word chosen.
Acquainted. Not informed about. Not monitoring. Acquainted, which is a word for somebody who knows a person, who has been around long enough not to be surprised, who is familiar with the way things go.
It is the word you would use about somebody who already knows and has not left.
You are not being watched. You are known by somebody already acquainted, and nothing you have done at midnight has ever once been news to Him. Psalm 139 chooses a word about familiarity rather than surveillance, and the Spirit of God is the one who has been acquainted the whole two years.
So here is what I believe is going out over a woman with a screen on in a dark room.
You have been gathering evidence against yourself every night, and a page of listings has never once been a document about the woman reading it. Psalm 139 says thou art acquainted with all my ways, and it is the Holy Spirit and not my saying so who chose a word about familiarity.
I am not going to tell you the app is the problem. It is not. The app is a tool that a much older sentence has been using, and deleting it would move the confirmation somewhere else by Thursday.
You have been attending the reading of a verdict that was passed long before any of those houses were built, and no photograph anywhere has ever once been part of the evidence. The written word compasses the lying down as well as the path, and the Spirit of God is the one who is in the room at the hour of it.
You are known and not watched, and two years of midnights have never once made you a stranger to Him. The Holy Spirit is the one who is already familiar and has not gone anywhere, and psalm 139 uses the word acquainted on purpose.
And this, which is the word I came with:
You have been at your own sentencing every night and there was never a case, and nothing on the fourth page has ever once testified against you. It is written thou compassest my path and my lying down, and the Spirit of God is with you tonight when you put the phone face down.
Declare this over yourself
- Sentence I confirm every night, you are older than any of those houses and you were never true. Psalm 139 says thou art acquainted with all my ways, so by the Holy Spirit I stop attending your reading in the name of Jesus.
- Fourth page at midnight, you are photographs and you have never once been evidence about me. The written word compasses my path and my lying down in the same line, and by the Holy Spirit I say out loud in daylight what I actually do, and I do not make it funny.
- Father, You chose the word acquainted, which is what You say about somebody You already know. Your word says thou compassest my lying down, so by Your Spirit I stop hiding the half of my life that happens in the dark.
